I’ve been given the go-ahead to post this piece that I did for the Brooklyn Zine run by Aimee! I hope everyone who went to the launch or ordered the zine loves it – I had a lot of fun drawing this!

Captain America

I love AUs. SO. MUCH. And because I was looking at Tron stuff earlier and remembered the discs/frisbees and then the shield and then HEY Captain America Tron AU. Why not.

I hate trying to design those suits, though. Even more so when I have to work an existing suit into the design. Don’t even get me started on Bucky’s damn Winter Soldier suit, oh man. This is by no means a final design for Steve’s little Grid outfit, I just really wanted to fiddle around with the frisbee/shield thing. The lines are uneven because they were supposed to follow the points of the star that’s usually at the center there but I think it just looks wonky. Ah well, there’s always next time.

EDIT:

I’m laughing at myself because I originally left the center of his “shield” untouched and didn’t even think about how awkward that looked and then I was laying in bed and realized… the center of his shield is… open… unprotected… what good is that… And now this thing has been reblogged so many times with that mistake and I can’t update it.

I really love the idea of the Winter Soldier hallucinating a pre-serum Steve, because whatever Steve says is a projection of what Bucky Barnes really wants the Winter Soldier to hear.

Characterization done right.

Steve Rogers in a single gif.

We joke about Steve’s patriotism as his strong suit, but his actual strength was his sense of moral right. His whole philosophy is summed up in the line “I don’t like bullies” in the first movie. Steve loves his country. He loves it enough to be at the front of the line trying to fix what he sees as moral wrong in it.

Steve Rogers stands for what America only tells itself it stands for

Steve’s facial expression is saying “This is COMPLETE bullshit.”

TBH, most of Steve’s expressions in the MCU so far express what flavour of bullshit he’s smelling at that instant, unless he’s talking to Sam or Peggy,
