I was so very angry yesterday because of a) reading a book that typified and trivialised everything that is completely wrong with irresponsible pet ownership and b) ACTUALLY DEALING WITH close family members giving a real life demonstration of such, that I essentially threw up my hands, gave up on people, ate ice cream, and started reading all the Tortall books from the very beginning with Alanna, and those were Good Choices.
Raise your hand if you like getting detailed critiques on the myriad flaws in a fanwork you completed over three years ago.

I got a comment the other day asking me if I could ‘make this into a real fic, a long one i could fangirl over’. The fic was nearly 5,000 words long, and in a fandom I hadn’t been part of for nearly ten years. It was very obviously a complete work. There was nothing else to the comment. No praise, no ‘I liked this part’, no nothing.

Unfortunately this is still relevant.
Kay so it’s a hard PTSD day because social media. I love you guys, tho, and you should post whatever you like, whatever makes you happy, because that’s what social media should be about. PTSD is a minefield, and what sets me off surprises me sometimes, and I’ve been living with it for 36 years. What set me off was something that probably seemed jokey to most people, but as a neurodivergent child abuse survivor was horrifying. That doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have reacted like I did. My reaction was perfectly rational for someone with my perspective. It might have seemed extreme to someone else, someone not-me, but it was rational. What I don’t want is for someone to think I’m angry at them personally for posting or reblogging something that they found funny that I did not. Our perspectives are different. The world is a different place to each of us based on who we are and the experiences we went through. A joke that might be funny to some, might trigger horrible emotional turmoil in someone who’s been abused, been raped, been discriminated against or attacked because of their race, their gender, their sexuality. That doesn’t make them wrong, too sensitive, or without humour. That makes them a human, a squishy being with a different experience to yours. Please remember, please be kind, and please adjust your world-view if needed. Thanks.
WOW OKAY everybody get in line to ban this tool. Religious freedom is one thing, turning up on a personal post talking about my actual experiences living with and dealing with the day-to-day legacies of PTSD and child abuse and telling me I’m going to hell is a good way to be the exact opposite of what Jesus was actually all about. Wtf Ultimate Spider-man?
Alright so I’m watching the Ultimate Spider-Man Spider-verse episodes where Spider-Man goes to different dimensions and teams up with different versions of him. And for this third season I’ve given the show a break because it started to actually be a little entertaining and fun to watch.
But then…

In its first season, the Ultimate Spider-man writer’s room literally drove a female staffer to resign, in part over a discussion they had about how they’d like to rape and dismember White Tiger, the only female on the team and the only Latina in the show.
Glad I stopped watching when I heard that, sounds like they haven’t gotten any better since.
It does rather sound from that review like the ep was written by fedora wearing douchebags whining about *~misandry~*. Ugh. And to think I was super excited for this season (and I think, literally this episode, because Donald Glover was getting to play Miles Morales.
