FYI yarn bowls are not, as it might sound, bowls made of yarn. They are bowls meant to HOLD yarn while you’re knitting, with a spot for the end you’re working with to come out while being held in place so the ball doesn’t roll away. Like so:

Here’s a picture of the finished Ginger-Dûr. (Source: Turkulainen, unfortunately only in Finnish, but there are other nifty gingerbread houses in the gallery. My other fave is the Moomin house.)
The article says it took 13.5 kilos of gingerbread dough to make this and it’s over a metre tall. The guys who made it are also studying construction engineering so no wonder…
