Kris Hess has more than enough on her plate. She’s taking care of her sick father, struggling to make deadlines with her art, and keeping up with the bills. There’s no room for dating unless it’s for the long haul, and Kris’s past experiences with women have left her full of doubts. Her relief comes from her weekly Dungeons and Dragons session with close friends. As Dungeon Master, this is one world she can actually control.

Lacey Jenkins is getting over heartbreak. She’s still full of resentment over her emotional vampire of an ex. The sole joy in her life comes from her little terrier, Barkley. Yep, she’s reached crazy dog lady status and she doesn’t care if you know it. But she knows the only way to move on is to start meeting new people, and her coworker offers her the perfect opportunity. Nice, easy, and no drama.

See this beautiful sleepy puppy?  This is @taibhsearachd and my baby girl, Ace.  We’ve had her since she was a teensy tiny flea-covered stray barely old enough to be away from her momma, and for the last decade she’s been our best girl.

Tomorrow, Ace is going to the vet to have surgery to remove a breast tumor that developed very abruptly while we were moving to Kansas in late October.  We’re finally able to afford the surgery – just barely.

Because we don’t know what the biopsy will say, we’re not sure how much more money (besides what I’ll be paying tomorrow, mostly cleaning out our bank account) this will take.  And that’s okay – she’s our baby and we’ll do whatever we have to in order to take care of her.  But we have other animals, and we have to eat and pay for gas to drive to work, and pay bills, and this surgery is cleaning us out of pretty much our entire safety net.

If you have any money to spare, please consider donating to our YouCaring fundraiser.  We’re not asking for much, we’re not even trying to cover the whole nearly $700 the surgery will cost, we’re just trying to recover a bit of a cushion so that if anything goes wrong, we won’t be at a loss, trying desperately to survive in the wake of it.

I headcanon Bucky’s family as being at least partially Jewish, so it would make a ton of sense to do that! I’d be happy to! However, I have virtually no exposure to Hanukkah in real life (sadly, cause it seems pretty cool), so I don’t really. know any? I asked google and it immediately spit up what looked like an Adam Sandler comedy thing, which seems like maybe not what you’re looking for. 

Hanukkah people, whadda ya got? If you can send me links to or names of popular Hanukkah songs, I can give it my best shot. And anyone who feels like it is welcome to parody their own versions! Tag me, please!

(Be warned that I’m in full-bore finals mode, so I may not actually be able to produce these for like. maybe ten days. But I will try!)

‘King hit’ is an old term for ‘one punch’ or ‘coward punch’ attack. Basically, it’s something that happens commonly in red light districts where people go to drink a lot, dance at night clubs, take drugs, and/or visit brothels. It generally consists of a single punch delivered to the back of the neck/base of the skull. Often, the victim is unaware of the attack at the time, or is walking away from a confrontation.

This shit kills people. And those who survive it? I knew a woman whose son was completely and totally disabled. Paralysed, and, as far as they knew, catastrophically cognitively impared too (no communication, no voluntary movements, not even blinking on request). In a nursing home, for life, aged twenty-two.
