but how much do i love that in the closing scene of ca:tws, steve is looking at the winter soldier’s file and there’s a faded photograph of bucky barnes in his army uniform, bright and reckless, before his horrific transformation

how much do i love that it’s a direct mirror image of the shot of peggy carter at the end of ca:tfa, where she is looking at captain america’s file and there’s a photograph of steve rogers in fatigues, determined and skinny, before his miraculous transformation ladyspies

steve + grief

Powerful.  Heartbreaking.  The sniffle that launched a hundred thousand fan stories …

Can we talk about how important it is that Steve Rogers, who embodies the idealistic masculine image, is open about his grief though?

Can I just talk about that last gif? In the commentary track, Joe Johnson said that they filmed this take first, then called Chris back for a reshoot where he was more stoic. They ended up going back to this version because of the strength of Chris’s performance and the emotion was a much better fit. As a result we have an amazingly beautiful emotional beat between Peggy and Steve, but we also actually get to feel Steve’s grief for his friend rather than it just being automatically transformed into righteous asskicking and gunfire.

lbr, even if they’d have a 50s honeymoon, they’d totally end up kicking ass and busting crime rings by accident

I WANT TO READ THAT FIC TOOOO

Really we just need Howard debriefing them after, sitting at his giant desk in his brand new SHIELD office, the two of them looking sullen and defiant, and he pinches the bridge of his nose and says, “Let’s discuss this again, you went on your honeymoon and how many people are dead?”

And Steve’s like “Look, I only killed the ones trying to kill me, I was good,” and Peggy’s all “And the rest of them were bad people anyway, I honestly don’t see the problem here” and Steve gives her this super doe-eyed look of passion and Howard mutters “I’m never getting married” to himself.

Someone needs to write this. Extra points if Steve has a bitemark/hickey on his neck, clearly visible, when Howard’s dressing them down.
