steve + grief

Powerful.  Heartbreaking.  The sniffle that launched a hundred thousand fan stories …

Can we talk about how important it is that Steve Rogers, who embodies the idealistic masculine image, is open about his grief though?

Can I just talk about that last gif? In the commentary track, Joe Johnson said that they filmed this take first, then called Chris back for a reshoot where he was more stoic. They ended up going back to this version because of the strength of Chris’s performance and the emotion was a much better fit. As a result we have an amazingly beautiful emotional beat between Peggy and Steve, but we also actually get to feel Steve’s grief for his friend rather than it just being automatically transformed into righteous asskicking and gunfire.

Try and tell me this movie sucks, just try.

This sequence—actually, their whole story—did so much for my self-esteem, you just have no idea.

I have no idea what this movie is, but I approve of the way this gentleman thinks.

I don’t think I’ve seen Love Actually since it came out. I feel like I’m due for a rewatch this holiday season, because I didn’t even remember this subplot.

I clearly need to do a While You Were Sleeping / Love Actually double header for the youths who have not encountered their dysfunctional brilliance.

I know you are but what am I?

This was not made for me. This was made by a fan artist whose work I love and admire from afar, but if there ever was an image that absolutely totally fit perfectly with my fic Falling and The Fallen, it’s this one. So I claim it for myself, in spirit, if not in truth, because it’s beautiful and it looks how writing that story felt for me, and I think it captures and conveys a lot of the same essence.

“Luna had decorated her bedroom ceiling with five beautifully painted faces: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville. They were not moving as the portraits at Hogwarts moved, but there was a certain magic about them all the same; Harry thought they breathed. What appeared to be fine golden chains wove around the pictures, linking them together, but after examining them for a minute or so, Harry realized that the chains were actually one word, repeated a thousand times in golden ink: friends…friends…friends…friends… Harry felt a great rush of affection for Luna” — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Sebastian Stan vs People Calling Bucky Barnes a Villain/Bad Guy

Bucky Barnes is not a villain, but we are witnessing Sebastian Stan’s super villain origin story right before our eyes.

“He’s the world’s longest serving POW!” he shouts, before roaring and tearing his shirt off to reveal the spandex villain costume underneath.
