I had a brief affair with the idea of the Winter Soldier hallucinating a younger Steve after the events of the film. This ghost of a memory would serve as his slowly recovering sense of right and wrong, telling him not to kill for vengeance and telling him to defend those who are downtrodden.

He doesn’t fully recognize the boy — he certainly doesn’t yet equate him with Captain America — but some part of him desperately wishes to listen to his words.

Regardless of these feelings, the Winter Soldier continues to ignore him. He still has a mission to do: eliminate Hydra.

Bucky aged 17 laying shirtless on a bed with his upper body propped up on one arm and a smile on his face but his eyes are closed and he faces the bed rather than the viewer, as drawn by Steve

First up, I’m afraid I’m not as good an artist as Steve is meant to be so you’ll have to excuse that. I wanted to show a bunch of finished drawings Steve had done of Bucky over the years.

I had other things to do…

Reblogging because I finally got things yo load enough to edit this. Pics & text now up as intended. I hate Satellite internet & Tumblr’ stupidly high loading self. But Bucky, so here.

The world has changed and none of us can go back. All we can do is our best, and sometimes the best that we can do is to start over.

I waaaaaant so many more fics about the Winter Soldier trying to be Bucky Barnes. Trying to act like him, look like him, but it obviously doesn’t work quite right. His smiles shake at the corners and when he’s distracted from the act his body either moves steady and slow like a predator or nervous and fast like prey.
