Dougall has deemed the new dog bed acceptable. For anyone else who, like us, wants to a) reclaim their throw pillows from pets and b) bed their pets on something fabulous, cooler than most fabrics, and washable, The Reject Shop in Australia has these for $12.
Hey, after losing one of our dogs last September our other pup got in to some really dark chocolate this Saturday and we had to get him to the vets and it’s totally cleaned us out money wise. Any tiny amount helps, or share if you can. We’re offering knitted hats or gloves or handspun yarn to any donations over $50.

Reblogging to say thank you SO MUCH to those who have donated so far, you have no idea how much it means to us. There were actual tears earlier when I saw people had helped out, both by giving money and by signal boosting. Dougall is home and is doing well. His bloods were great, and apart from being super anxious, exhausted and hoarse from barking for his whole hospital stay, he’s fine. Right now, he’s sleeping it all off in our bed (a very special treat) with Emma.
Dougall is doing better today. I was able to transfer the money from PayPal to my account so we can pay back the loan part of the vet bill. This is huge. Thank you all so much.
We’d still love to be able to replenish the savings enough that I could get the brakes fixed on the car and get a hair cut. My hair is starting to get too long for me to be able wash without my shoulders sublaxing and I’m not well enough to cut it myself right now.

The vet hospital staff somehow all like him despite the fact that he hasn’t stopped barking since he started feeling better. Fingers crossed, if his bloodwork is okay, he should come home tomorrow.
Thanks hon. Twelve hours since poisoning. Twenty-four to forty-eight hour timeframe, and no news is good news, so we’re hoping for no news until morning, when we get an update. We only lost Pip in September. We’re not ready to lose Dougall too.
The hospital is staffed 24 hours, so it’s hella expensive, but they’re pushing fluids and charcoal and diazepam and they’re on hand if he worsens. Unfortunately, there’s no antidote, just symptomatic treatment, so it’s a wait-and-see situation. Thank you.
Some good thoughts please for my shih-tzu/maltese dog who just ate an almost entire block of 70% cacao and is in the vet hospital right now.
this poor baby showed up at my house a few days ago, refused to leave, isn’t microchipped, and is currently hanging out in my front yard while i look for a possible owner and figure out if he could potentially be a good fit with the rest of my fur babies. he’s very sweet, but he’s not fixed, which is an issue i would definitely have to take care of and don’t know if i have the resources for. but he’s so sweet???

just dropped the baby off at the vet for a bath to get rid of his ticks and probable fleas as well as a general health work up. they’re running a special this month on spaying/neutering for $99, so i’ll probably talk to them about setting up an appointment for that when i go to pick him up. still looking to see if he’s been lost, but i get the feeling he’s mine now. dude definitely picked the right house to fixate on. god knows i’m the softest of soft touch when it comes to animals.
frankie is currently sulking and making sad puppy whines because his new best friend has disappeared. dude. he’ll be back this afternoon. chill out. you’ve known him all of four days. there’s no need to go all romeo and juliet about it.
indiana bones is home from the vet. he’s all vaccinated up, confirmed to be heartworm free, has had a flea bath, was held down and force fed an oral treatment for the many many MANY ticks on his poor self, and has an appointment to get his manhood removed on friday.
so i guess i have another dog now.

i really, really, REALLY debated doing this, because it seems like so much to ask, but i’ve set up a ko-fi account. my bills are high because of the holidays and i’m currently looking at my next bi-weekly paycheck being roughly half of what it usually is and while i’ve always budgeted to account for my pets in the past, i was seriously not expecting a new one to turn up out of no where. if you can spare even a little bit to help offset the unexpected vet bills i’m currently looking at, i’d be so incredibly appreciative.
I think he might be a husky mix, between the brown/blue heterochromia and the face markings and some things about his overall shape. Not sure what else might be in there, though.
If you were Australian, I’d think he was a Cattle Dog mix, but they’re not as common in the USA.
