Hawkeye vs. Deadpool #0

I really appreciated all the little nods to Clint’s deafness in this issue. I’m glad other writers are acknowledging it and it’s not just a temporary thing in Fraction’s run. I also enjoy the fact that Wade apparently knows sign language.

Ah, this fan edit is awesome.

What it was going to be, we were trying to complicate the relationship between Cap and his S.H.I.E.L.D agent friends. If Hawkeye got a call from S.H.I.E.L.D saying Captain America is a fugitive, would he listen to that call or not listen to that call? That sequence actually was heartbreaking for us to cut it. I think it ultimately might have been a conflict with Renner’s schedule. But there was a great sequence where Hawkeye was chasing Cap through Washington D.C. there was an awesome sequence where they confronted each other in a ravine on the outskirts of D.C. and Hawkeye was shooting a series of arrows closing in on Cap, Cap closing in on him. And then Cap took him down and he realized for the first time that Hawkeye was trying to trick S.H.I.E.L.D, where he whispered something into Cap’s ear that Cap had a tracker on his suit and to punch Hawkeye to make it look real, because there was a Quinjet hovering above where they were watching the feedback back at S.H.I.E.L.D. I really wish it hadn’t been cut, too, but I don’t think that anything they did with the film makes this canon-incompatible, so I’m just adding it to the head canon I’ve already amassed.

I hope it’s true because rubbing your hands together like an evil mastermind anticipating loot is the correct response to getting given something caffeinated.

I learned this sign as “excited”/”anticipation”, but it would not surprise me one iota if it were the same sign for “caffeine”. Either way, it is absolutely the appropriate response of Clint to coffee.

I did check Lifeprint before posting that fic and you’re right. It’s used for both. Dr. Bill points the finger at ‘the Starbucks crowd’ for the double meaning. 😀

‘Coffee’ is different, it’s two fists atop each other with the top one moving in a circle like working an old-fashioned coffee grinder. I think caffeine is more fun in this instance.:)
