Soft on Soft by Em Ali (which I received as an ARC with a different title, #FatGirlsInLove, that appears to be a working title) is an entirely unique story. It’s a romance between two fat sapphic women: Selena, a Black demisexual model, and June, the Arab-Persian, anxious make-up artist. Thanks to the profession of the two protagonists, Soft on Soft is full of diverse bodies being celebrated, colourful descriptions, flowers, and altogether vivid mental images.

Zephyr (Faith Herbert) is a psiot with the power of flight. She is a member of Peter Stanchek’s Renegades and often acts as the moral compass of the team.
She’s so cute and positive and she’s such a sweetheart
Oh my god????
My chest just got so tight and I think I’m going to cry she looks like me
If you’re interested in the comics, Faith is from Harbinger (published by Valiant Comics). Her one-shot can be purchased here.
I need this. Right now. It’s funny how you don’t know some aspect of yourself isn’t represented in a certain media until it IS and you’re just sitting there, looking at it, drinking it in like you’ve been thirsty for 41 years.
Wow.
Faith has her own title! It’s super cute! Also you should buy it if you can, because supporting positive plus size rep shows publishers that there’s a market for diversity.
Julian Dennison is out here preaching about the importance of body diversity and representation in the media and I’m honestly so here for it.
“Deadpool is a quirky universe, which is all about being outside of the box, unlike a normal superhero film,” he says, adding that he’s always been confident and comfortable with his body image. “For me, personally, it’s really cool to play someone who other people can finally look at it and see that a bigger person can portray this awesome character.” [x]

SO TRUE!!!!!! My good peasant DNA would also get me through any famine. If I reduce my caloric intake my body goes, “Oh! Another famine is it? Dinna fash lass: we’re really good at this! When all those other skinny idjits lie dead around you, ye’ll still be plump as a wee fat hen to pick up the pieces.”
This is actually a really accurate and positive description of what a lot of people’s bodies do when under stress. And it makes me kind of happy that my body’s just trying to help me out. Though my heritage is pretty much pure English (I know this because my mother’s a big family history nut), so maybe it thinks the Romans are coming.
I made a comic about every comment thread under any content involving a fat person existing. Ever.
This counts as my inktober #1 because I spent way more time on it than I should have.
