Idk if anyone else has noticed this, but in this scene of Love, Simon you can see that Simon has the book More Happy Than Not on his shelf. Coincidentally, More Happy Than Not also features a boy struggling with his sexuality, so whether this was planned or that Becky Albertalli is just friends with Adam Silvera, it’s still a cool feature because it implies that Simon read it and maybe helped him figure out himself.

I TOTALLY SPOTTED THIS IN THE MOVIE THEATRE! Adam Silvera’s not my favourite author – his books just didn’t speak to me, nbd – but I know they’re really important to a lot of people, and that the people dressing the set took the time to put queer books on Simon’s shelf meant a lot to me. I just wish we had a great front-on shot so that we could see the other books, because I’d put money on there being more queer titles up there. Bless this set dresser, they did good.

this is literally why i love taika so much he probably went “hey wouldn’t it be cool is we hired Matt Damon to be on screen to play loki in a play” and two second later he probably went “ok yep that’s what we’re doing” and he’s gigGLING while watching it happen taika is living life at its Peak and I’m so here for it

I was so happy to see a Latina [Melissa Fumero] on the show, but also so devastated because I knew… I knew there was not going to be any network that was going to cast both of us as ensemble leads on a show. So I cried a lot. And I was devastated. I showed a couple of friends at the time and I was like, *imitates crying* “I’m really happy for her but I really wanted that show.” Then it was like two days later that I got the call [that I was cast], and I was gobsmacked. I was like, “the world is fucking changing.” And it’s such a testament to the show that they cast both of us. And not only us, but also Terry Crews and Andre Braugher [two black men] in positions of power.

i phrased this as a joke because it is pretty funny but its also worth reading what he said:

IAN: When I suggested to Sean that he took Elijah’s hand it was because I thought anyone who knew the book would care about the deep friendship, often of an innocently physical nature, and that might’ve been missed by two resolutely heterosexual actors who mightn’t appreciate that gay people like myself saw in a touch something perhaps more meaningful than others might. So to persuade him to touch Elijah, I’d say, “Well look, it’s in the book.”

SEAN: Ian brought the book to me right before we shot it and he said, “Now look here, it says that Sam runs over and grabs Frodo’s hand,” he said. “The fans of the book are going to want to see that.” I sort of—I believed it, and I got a fan letter the other day that a neighbor friend handed to me, and it said how much it meant to her that Sam holds Frodo’s hand at that moment because it was something that she—it was one of the most important moments to her in the book.
ELIJAH: Oh, that’s fantastic. It’s those subtle little nuances, man.
SEAN: So thank you Ian.
ELIJAH: That’s unbelievable.
