This got a few notes and so far all i know is that all of you people, all of you, are filthy and of impure thoughts
Judaism is not a religion of blind obedience. Indeed, astonishingly in a religion of 613 commandments, there is no Hebrew word that means “to obey”. When Hebrew was revived as a living language in the nineteenth century, and there was need for a verb meaning “to obey,” it had to be borrowed from the Aramaic: le-tsayet. Instead of a word meaning “to obey,” the Torah uses the verb shema, untranslatable into English because it means [1] to listen, [2] to hear, [3] to understand, [4] to internalise, and [5] to respond. Written into the very structure of Hebraic consciousness is the idea that our highest duty is to seek to understand the will of God, not just to obey blindly.
#MonthofSpreads Day Thirteen: The Good in Thirteen

Golden rule, karma, cause and effect, long term consequences both good and bad

4. What should I focus on throughout the day?
VIII – Stength

Thoughts
Today offers a multitude of choices. Like any day, those choices have the ability to help or hinder me, and those choices can have long term effects. I can maximise today’s potential by grounding myself in my home tasks – the day to day things that help keep life on an even keel. I can do this by tapping into my inner reserves of strength and holding on – with my fingernails and teeth if necessary.
I’ve never used this deck before this moment. It’s been waiting in the wings for me to finish reading the author’s quartet of books, which are linked to the deck. (I’m on to book two.) But this read called for strength, and immediately, this deck struck me as the strongest deck I own. So here we are.
1. How do I define strength?
Five of Wands
Defending yourself in the face of opposition, sticking to your guns, upholding self-belief in your own choices and ideas
2. Where do I achieve this strength from?
X – Wheel of Fortune
Cyclical change, this too shall pass, comfort in the seasons of life
Thoughts
I define strength as conviction and holding to the decisions and choices I make, and the ideas I have developed about what is best for me, even in the face of scepticism, ridicule or abuse. Strength comes from knowing things will not remain the way that they are, that sun follows rain, or rain comes after baking sun. There are things I cannot avoid, but I can weather them. That is strength.
#MonthofSpreads Day Eleven: Simplify My Life
1. What area of my life needs simplifying?
Three of Wands
Envisioning the future, setting goals, deciding on a direction
2. How can I simplify this area of my life?
Two of Pentacles

3. What first step should I take?
Son of Wands
Boldness, drive, energy to pursue new ideas
4. What will be the outcome of this process?
Nine of Pentacles (Reversed)
Joy and abundance tempered by disclipline, self control, achievement but with work still to be done
Thoughts
To be better off in the future, I need to set my goals, embrace the change, have the bravery and energy to execute them but know that as good as achievign them feels, it’s not an end point and there is always more work to be done to maintain it.
My submission for ArtOrder’s Tiny Dragons project! This was made with my usual mess of watercolor, ink, and colored pencil on 8×8″ hotpress watercolor paper…this time I really tried to pin down the value structure of the whole piece, and I’m feeling good about that aspect of it. 😀
So I’ve been re-reading @the-wordbutler‘s Motion Practice Universe, specifically Permanency, and I had to draw Tony’s ridiculous greyhounds Dummy and Butterfingers.
I JUST GASPED ALOUD. Like. I am at work, doing weekend duty, and I am waiting for some documents and soooooooo not interested in being here, and THEN I SAW THIS AND EVERYTHING GOT BETTER. Oh this just MADE MY DAY!!!!!!
